Rifle Scopes Mils or MOA knobs for a new Leupold?

Getting a MK4 Leupold in the next week and debating back and forth on the knob adjustment choices. I'm getting the TMR reticle and I'm leaning towards MOA adjustments, but a buddy said the mils are what most are going with these days. I will end up going with a H58 at some point and figured I'd make the transition to mils at that point.

Any advice?

Matching knobs/reticle, without a doubt. I finally unwound several years of poor decision-making last winter, and it was rather inconvenient and costly. Do it right the first time!

There are good shooters that use the mil system and good shooters that use the MOA system. Me, personally, I speak MOA and have for about 50 years....too late to change now. BUT, if I had to change, I'd make DANGED SURE that the adjustments on the knobs/turrets matched the reticle. There is no excuse to have to do the mental juggling to go from one to the other (no matter which way you are going) every time you need to shift things a little. Just because the latest "thing" is whatever and you go that way....if you are not all warm and fuzzy/comfortable with it, you are just giving in to what someone else likes/thinks/does and you will be disgusted with yourself when you get around to figuring it out. ESPECIALLY if it doesn't work out!!

MATCH THE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE RETICLE. PERIOD. That ALWAYS works out!!!

You'll have to excuse me if I sound ignorant, but what about a scope that has a mil dot reticle but uses minutes as it's turret measurements. This is a bad thing? I understand the mil dot formula on range estimation, but other than doing the math, what other benefits would there be?

It's just not as efficient/fast as matching reticles and turrets.

Whichever system you are more comfortable with, really, but I settled on mils since the math is just plain easier.

Thanks for the advice so far. Ended up going with the M5 knobs on my Mk4. I think it was a good idea, will just take some getting used to "thinking in mils". Also went with BadgerOrdnance 20MOA rail and rings.

Now just have to wait for the rifle to get it mounted and shooting
