MK 12 Picture & Discussion Thread

Looking through this makes me even more impatient to get the stuff in to build a Mod H-ish. Waiting on the orders to deliver and the OCL OCM5 to get approved.

Nice.

What is the sight picture like with the laser mounted?
It’s the dnt thermal. Idk. Battery was so low that i really couldn’t get it set up last night. Plan to try put it in clip on mode and get everything situated this weekend. Need to get a little taller mount. Or just the adm 170s. Gonna run 70gr tsx for pigs until i can get the mod 0 22 arc up and running

Another great day at the range today.
The DD Mk12 runs great, its been decked out with the Acheron SPR E5 suppressor (Europes AEM5), LUTH-AR stock with Geissele super 42 spring, Nightforce NX8 in PRI rings and Harris bipod.

I feed it with Fiocchi FMJ as standard fodder and 77 grain SMK for special occations.

More of a MK12 Mod H inspired build. No real desire to be a direct clone. Just wanted a solid shooter with an iconic suppressor.

OCL OCM5, PRI MK12 Mod H upper, FN lower, Geissele LPK and buffer tube/buffer/spring, Magpul grip and stock, NF NX8 2.5-20 in NF ultramount and diving board with Tango 4000 WMLRF. I will be replacing the ultramount with rings whenever they arrive.

My Mod 0

-PRI rifle
-Geissele SSAE
-Harris 6-9 w/podlock and ARMS mount
-ARMS rings (I hate these)
-Surplus 03’ Leupold Vari-X III with M3 turrets
-AEM5
Making me think the 6mm arc mod 0 might just have to be black as to not mix them up. For whatever reason despite even having owned a mod 1 (kicking myself for parting that out) I just don't wanna go back to it. It's strange it's almost bland looking to me compared to the mod 0 or H

Some Mini Recce in this video:

There’s also a Mk.12 Mod 0 V1 in there chambered in 6mm ARC with a Craddock barrel that looks really sick. I prefer the 1st iteration Mod 0 PRI handguards that don’t have that larger OD ring near the receiver. Aesthetically more pleasing and slick.

A friend of mine sent me a Bootleg adjustable BCG to try out for a few weeks.

I put it in my DD Mk12 pictured above and was pleasantly surprised about how it felt.
The AEM5 style suppressor is very gassy, as most of you know. The Bootleg handled it well and the felt recoil was very low as a bonus.

On the next range trip I will put it in my Mod-H (ish) build and see how it does there.

How much extra fouling was on the rounds in the mag? Any issues at all with functionality, specifically going into battery?

On the suppressed setting there was pretty much no fouling at all going down or into the gun. The rounds (and emty casings) looked pretty much as they do when you shoot non suppressed.

I was curious about the Bootleg BCG for a while but the very mixed reviews online caused me to hold of. But when I got the chanse to borrow one, it was an easy choice.
I started out as follows, with the rifle equiped with a standard rifle buffer and Geissele super mg42 spring. And the Swiss made AEM5 style suppressor. Ammo used was Fiocchi 55 grain FMJ.

With the BCG in standard non suppressed setting, the rifle worked as usuall, threw casings at 14:30 roughly.

On the first click towards suppressed mode, the casings was threwn at about 16:30 and felt recoil was a bit smoother.

On the second click towards suppressed mode, the casings was also threwn at about 16:30 and the gun felt pretty much the same.

On full suppressed mode, the casings were threwn at 17:00 and recoil kind of dissapeard, it felt "hollow" for a lack of better ways to describe it. And as most of us know, a Mk12 is not rough to shoot in any way, now it was pretty much as a PCP rifle.

Then, I unscrewed the suppressor and tried the same thing in reverse, so to speak.

In the full suppressed mode, the gun does not cycle at all. NO movement what so ever from the BCG. The gun turns into a bolt action.

On the first and second setting after that, much to my surprise, the gun still does not cycle or do anything.

On the non suppressed mode, the gun cycles again and throws the casings at about 17:00, it feels very anemic and I was surprised that the bolt managed to lock up on the last round.

So the Bootleg BCG does work. It makes a big difference in fouling and feel. There is also no gas in the face, no sticky ammonia gas burning eyes or nose, but I need to do more shooting and test it in more rifles to get an even better feel for it.
