i recently purchased a model 11fcxp, i bought it as a combo but knew the scope on it was junk, so i purchased a vortex scope and leupold base and rings, the base said (std. fits model 10-16) when i got all the parts i went to put them on but could not get no where near enough moa out of the scope to even bring it up on the boresighter, the only thing i can think of is the base is for some reason wrong, what else could it be?, also i have decided to put pictianny mounts on it since a std. didnt work but i got on murphys precision and it said model 11 acutrigger models only what is the differance and why cant i get anything aftermarket to work on this gun? thanks for all the help.

Re: model 11fcxp scope mount problems

try EGW and any short action round back base will work. from what i was told the 10, 11, 16 and i bet a few more are all the same basic actions, just different finish or bolt knob. now that being said, sounds like the scope. were you boresighting? or shooting it to zero the scope?

oh and whatever you get, go ahead and get a 20moa base

Re: model 11fcxp scope mount problems

It sounds like you have a base made for the older, pre accutrigger Savages that had a lower rear bridge. The newer actions are round, front and back, so both bases should be the same height. Feel free to call me at 800-553-8527 if you have any questions about scope base / action compatibility.

+1 on checking the reciver if it is an older one. THe flat backs were hand cut, sometimes they were cut shorter and thus had limited elevation.

I chased this problem with an older 110 for a while and a bad (unmarked "O" MOA) base.

Went with a brand new EGW 20 MOA base, problem solved. Glad I didn't give up on it because the rifle is definitely a tack driver and shoots way better than my ability.

Re: model 11fcxp scope mount problems

Are you using a 1 or 2 piece base? Seems you would notice a 1 piece teetering if it were wrong, before you mounted it. A wrong 2 piece set up, your scope would not set level in the rings, still should set off an alarm while tightening. Your bases should be the same height, and reversible frt to rear.
