    Are all Ai dovetail scope mounts same height but different cants? 18-28-45?
    I will be mounting SB 3-12x50 on Aw w dovetail and want the lowest mount possible.

    Can any barrel blank be chambered and threaded for the AW or barrel has to be manufactured for the Ai?
    I have a 6.5 #9 Brux barrel blank comin ,can it be sent to say.. GAP to be threaded for my AW?

    rifle will be a AW 308 and 260 i will have up to 1300yds of max range distance to shoot at.Scope 3-12x50 pmII

    The 45 is taller from what I've seen. The 18 and 28 are low and I've owned them both. My 18' mount on a dovetail puts a Premier 3-15x50 about 5mm above the barrel at the front.

    An 18 MOA cant will get you out to 1300 with 175s no problem. The 28 adds another 2.9 mils of up.

    No clue on the barrel. I suggest calling GAP about threading and headspacing.

    I've got the 28 on my AW .308 with a 3-12x50 PMII....that's the AI recommended base for the 3-12/.308 combo

    GAP or any smith will be able to chamber any barrel blank you want for the AI, its no different than say threading and chambering a Rem700 Action, just the threads are metric and different than most. All you would need to do is grab a go/no go gauge and check headspace once you install it.

    My SB is 3-12x50 and the rifle will wear a heavy fluted barrel aswell.I just want this thing lookin right and since im an FNG to AI im clueless.

    Either mount will clear with the 20" heavy contour.

    My objective is 57mm OD as well if you don't count the big barb used to hold on the front cap.

    I went with the 18 MOA mount as I was originally getting the PR 5-25 and wanted to make sure the lens cap would clear the heavy barrel. After deciding to go with the 3-15 instead, I wound up keeping the 18 MOA and rocking it until Spuhr comes out with his mounts.

    GAP said any blank can work,as deadly said just needs proper threading and chambering.I have a feeling this will solve my multiple rifle/caliber problem/addiction. 308,260,7-08....

    My AW has a Border 26" fluted heavy target barrel - was a UK option at point of sale when I bought the rifle. No problem clearing the barrel with the 28' mount
