I have three Ex-PU's I am working to put back together, and one Repro PU with slightly newer optics.

This is a 1938 Tula reproduction PU that I selected for the bore (always buy yours barrel first-everything else is secondary). I used a piece of Fel-Pro gasket making material up under the front of the barrel to tighten it up in the forearm (not free floating-but a trick that the Finn's used except they used felt or leather), then a two point bedded the action with Marine-Tex, polished the crown.

*I opted to purchase the Accumount 1" split ring mount and added an old Redfield Accutrac with a "C" cam which is close enough for field work.

People always ask the potential accuracy of a Mosin, and it varies but I have found more then once that some attnetion to detail will often surprise you!

The target pictures is with 22/78 surplus light ball at 100yds.
1.439" (edge to edge- 1.439" minus .311"= 1.128" slighlty over 1MOA) 7 shot group as you can see most of them tucked into one lagre hole! I was extremely happy with this group and look forward to working up some 174MK's in some once fired PRVI brass and H4350.

one case of this ammo 880rnds cost me $160 OR .18 cents a round. This is a cheap way to work on your shooting form and it is deinately good enough for field work.

I also bought a stripped receiver (not a chopped vintage rifle)from classic and one of the UK59 heavy barrels...my buddy is redoing the sotck to include an adjustible cheek piece and extended forearm.
