ok i got a friend who is looking at this mossberg ATR. he wants it in a .243 for coyotes and deer. Problem is he hunts in an area that could offer some long shots on deer 400yds plus. the twist rate on the .243 is a 1 and 10 and it has a 22 in barrel. I think this is an inadequate cartridge what are your thoughts. thanks

I use a 105 VLD in a 243 and they drop fast when I do my part.
I don't know much about the Mossberg ATR but the round is good.

I think that you are going to have a harder time stabilizing a 105 VLD in a 1:10 barrel.
However, an 85gr Barnes TSX loaded near max should be good still for deer at 400yds, provided the shooter and rifle are capable.
