Mossberg 702 plinkster high cap mag?

So I've been looking at getting a 702 and couldn't find any high cap mags for it. I know there are plenty of other 22lr rifles out there that offer a lot more options and are better guns all around. But for reasons I dont care to explain I need this one. Now I was checking out the high cap mag for the mossberg tactical ar-15 22lr and I've been told that it's possible to use this mag with the 702. All I need to do is remove the lower half which gives the appearance of a full size mag. Does anyone know if this will work. I could really use your help.
