While I am waiting for my reloading equipment to arrive, I wanted to ask those of you who shoot the Savage 110FP .308 (and reload) which "recipe" works best for you. I am looking to build a better bullet, and I would certainly benefit from your guidance and experience. Thanks.

Bob

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

I don't have the 110, but the 10 fcp-k in .308. Im having good luck with the 175 smk's, 43.8gr varget, cci br2, and lapua brass. coal of 2.790

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

This will not be what you want to hear, but my wife and I both have the 110's, and hers likes the amax with 4064 and mine likes 168 vld's and 4895. Seems like each to their own!

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

I have a 10FP and I use LC brass, 42gr of reloader 15 and 168FMJ/BT. Does pretty well for what I do with it.

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

Savage PC is very good with 175smk and 46gr of Varget(this load is hot), but for 100yds only it is crazy accurate with 44gr of varget under a 180smk.

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

Sierra SMK 175gr
Lake City Brass (Thicker than most commercial brass so less powder needed)
CCI Large Rifle
Varget 43.0 gr
Just long enough to get into the blind mag.
Barrel throat is getting long but can still shoot .375 at 100yds.

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

175smk
Winchestor brass
37.0gr BL-C2
CCI 200 primers
2.815 OAL

Let it rip.

Good luck,
Merritt

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

barrel cut to 24in
Win brass
CCI LR
175SMK
44.5 Varget (so far)
loaded to 'just off the lands' and still fits mag!
this gets me a 5rnd 3.5 inch group if I was better the group would shrink!

What distances are you shooting? One load is not necessarily the best for all applications. If I was shooting at 300 yards and less, I would load 42.0 grs of 4064 with a 168 SMK. From 300-600 yds, I'd use 43.0 grs. of Reloader 15 and a 175 SMK. Beyond that... 41.6 grs. of Varget pushing a Berger 185 BTLR. Of course, standard disclaimers apply. Work up slowly and safely.

Hey, I admire your honesty...
But did you really mean three and a half inches?

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

175 smk seated close to the lands
43-43.5g varget
any brass, lapua if I am feeling fancy

21 inch barrel. Has worked very well for me.

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

model 10 fcp mcmillan stock
cdi bottom metal
badger break
and all bedding and tuning done by Moon at GAP

46.5 gr varget
lapua brass
155 lapua silver scenars
2.840 oal
2960 fps
.25-.50 moa at 100yds

Re: Most accurate load for Savage .308?

10FP in a Mc Millan stock. 26" pipe (one of the early ones).

175gr. SMK over 45.4gr. of RE15 in Black Hills (Win.) brass. Case trimmed to 2.007 Federal GM210M primer.
Base to ogive: 2.196
2678 fps @ 17 degrees C
ES = 5 (gotta' like that)

Shoots sub MOA from a bone stock rifle all day long out to 700+. It actually shoots better than that, I just can't always do it.
