I have 3 700s I want to "open up" the stock magazines to allow for my bergers. Is there an easy and inexpensive way to open them up and change the mag to allow for longer coals?

I am trying to avoid $400 per rifle for installed DBMs.

Thanks gentlemen.

The cheapest way to shoot longer than mag length bulletsbis to single feed. This costs nothing, and is by definition the most economical solutions to your problem.

But I think you're looking for a mag length solution that allows you to fire with more rounds waiting in the wings. Only thing I know of is a DBM. Take a look at hooper's design.

Thanks for the input.
For a long action 700 couldn't you machine it to fit the ultra mag box?
For an ultra I don't know what could be done, but that is my problem.
I can't justify $400 or more to machine and add DBM and a mag box.
My long action 300wsm is easy, it is my 300 ultra that is the problem. Any other ideas?

The factory fixed remington BDL mag boxes usually fit longer loaded length rounds than detatchable mags do, at least until you go to alpha mags or pull the spacer ourt of an AICS mag.
To take advantage of those, you will need to slot the bottom of the receiver.

PD,
I like the Wyatt ext box, I just don't have a mill. I did find that it only costs about $50 to get a smith to install it. Cheaper than the mill I want

Fur,
Why $20 for a single feed follower? What does it do?

Single feed or switch to a long-action. Those are the most reliable options. You can only get so much from a magazine box before the limitations of a short action kick in, but I 'm not sure how long you need to go.

It is for an Edge I am building. I want to shoot SMK and Bergers off the lands, so I want to extend it to the 4" box. Do the boxes come with instructions?
