The Motivational Pic thread sustained me through a deployment, and became my daily source for humor for over 4 years. Like it or not, it was the most viewed thread on SH, and in my opinion for good reason.
The tasteless jokes (the kid with no arms was way over the fucking like, btw), and endless reposts of soft-core porn were tiresome, but that's the price you pay for relatively unfiltered humor. If you didn't like something, you just moved on.
In all, it was a perfect blend of crude and adult humor appreciated by shooters and Mil/LEO types, and the thread's views and duration prove this out. If another similar thread surfaces, I'll do what I can to contribute.

i usually cant stand moderators, but mike is a good dude.he didnt know me from jack crap at a precision rifle class and went out of his way to help me out and ive seen him give alot of shooters good advice/techniques.
so mike your still a good guy to me.im sure the motivational bs will be getting tons of new posts added daily and it needed refreshing anyway.besides that being a mods gotta suck for the most part listening to all the whineing, i def wouldnt wanna do it,i know its necessary kinda like a janitor is necessary.

I absolutely love this site and is where I spend probably 70%+ of my time online. It has had a profound impact on my development as a shooter over the past three years by helping me with reloading, shooting techniques, and trouble-shooting issues. There is no way in hell I'd be able to shoot as well as I do now (still got a ways to go too!) without the information here. Sure there are a number off bullshit threads, trolls, and meaningless crap I have to wade through to find true reviews, but to me it is worth that extra effort.
Also the number of industry leaders and/or representatives that are members here has always impressed me. USO, Schmidt & Bender, Spuhr, Seekins, NF, and the myriad of 'smiths and vendors. This site has provided access to each of these companies where I could get questions answered and/or issues resolved. As said above, thanks to this site (and the excellent customer service and patience) average Joes have access to insane amounts of knowledge.
While there may be some things that could be improved, this site as it is has helped thousands of people including myself better our equipment, abilities, and knowledge.

This site has provided access to each of these companies where I could get questions answered and/or issues resolved. As said above, thanks to this site (and the excellent customer service and patience) average Joes have access to insane amounts of knowledge.
While there may be some things that could be improved, this site as it is has helped thousands of people including myself better our equipment, abilities, and knowledge.

While I enjoyed the thread I also realize the amount of attention it required to moderate it. The thread was always good for a laugh and always one of my first stops.
We all know you hated it Rob but let's face it, it was a draw and site hits are what bring advertisers and dollars to the Hide. I don't need new load data or advice on something every day but can always use a laugh, smile, and even some of the original intent, motivation, on a daily basis.

Exactly. If someone had not posted an inappropriate item, the accident would never have happened.
Good on Mike for his admission... IMHO he'es representative of a great group of Moderators here. They are what makes this place not only informational, but fun.

Maggie's Drawers has been part of this site since the beginning, the fact the Motivational Pix Thread was the second most popular next to the girlfriend thread says a lot to me,
that people liked it, sometimes the small mindless distraction are the most helpful, especially when someone is having a not so good day.
The nice thing about the site is, you have choices, you can choose to look elsewhere as we do not force you view something you don't want.
