I still have a dwell meter and a timing light on the wall over my workbench. I have a set of ignition wrenches, ignition file, feeler gauges, a spark plug gap gauge and a set of brake spring pliers in my tool box. And I used to leave charged up capacitors laying around just for kicks! Yeah, I'm kinda old!

For all of us older people that have had points in a car.
Last fall my wife called and said that her car quit running and she coasted into a gas station and it cranks but won't fire.
So get there and I'll be damned. Adjustment on the points with a matchbook and she fired up. This is on her 66 Oldsmobile. The next day I installed the conversion kit in the distributor. And for a minute I thought about leaving the old one charged and laying on the counter. It sounded funny in my head but I thought better of it.

Would have been funny! But you probably did the smart thing.
