When I lived in Humboldt County CA there was a wild growing mushroom that reportedly had amazing amounts of Psilocybin and was very highly sought after by the hippies. In the same area was an almost identical mushroom that was pretty much just straight neurotoxin, a few times a year dead hippies were found in the redwood forest. All mushrooms are edible, some only once.
