So my brother (RIP) was Special Forces, came home from Nam and was one of those that got cussed at and spit on. I was involved with just about everything from Honduras on but after Desert Storm I couldn't buy a drink at the bar. That kind of died off over time, but when I got back from Afghanistan it was the same again.I agree, but still. It’s weird to me too, but maybe that’s because I’d almost never heard it when I served before GWOT. People in towns near bases treated us like tourists. We’ll take your money, but you ain’t one of us.
We got more respect and recognition overseas than we ever did at home.
That’s why even if it’s gratuitous and/or insincere it’s better even that people feel obligated to say it than the converse.
My favorite is when it’s used in lieu of, “With all due respect…”.
I won’t be toasting the sky, but pouring some whisky on the ground. RIP “Will The Thrill” and others.

I laughed a bit too hard at this. I may not have a wire bits drawer, but do indeed have bits of assorted wire hanging. With as many things as I fix/make/repair, I often need to use one. And that may not be all of my ‘tism….
- "Americanism" Criticism:
Some critics described the policy as "American”
Google says she’s 34
It’s still straighter than you
I have a woodworking shop and a "Toy Box" where I work on my military collection/vehicles.I laughed a bit too hard at this. I guess that’s a matter of perspective based off what the individual did. There was a small group of fellas digging deep and hard in the 80s and clearing the path for a top tier game changing military unit.My BIL served around 1980, my cousin did 6 or 7 tours in the sandbox are they equal ?? I do not think so.
That was good enough to end the post on, bravo to you sir.I didn’t serve so my opinion counts for nothing.
