Back in the 80s we had a school on a small army post in northern CA. Very sparsely populated area. I think it was considered an isolated site (nuke storage). Civilians could come and go to use the post office and a lot of women hung out at the small club they had. We called them buffarillas. Most were looking for husbands
If you are talking about Sierra Army Depot I wouldn't describe it as small. Maybe a small population but lots and lots of cool stuff there.
As I remember, the post proper wasn’t very big. The WSA was huge.
It is. Also a fun place to do Wildland Initial Attack.
Not as bad as the Ridge side of Camp SLO though (naval gunnery range).
