I haven't followed it for quite some time, but AFAIK, Sheriff Joe is "Retired". He's 93 now. He tried to run for the U.S. Senate in 2018 and lost. He also lost his re-election bid to become Sheriff again after that. Can't imagine the dims in Maricopa County would have played with the election results........
There are a lot of Sheriffs in Florida who treat criminals exactly the same with one exception. They don't go on the news about it. Or, at least rarely do so.
