I have never tried this but a cowboy told me that to push calves back in, hang the cow by her back feet and gravity will allow the calf to fall back in so you can get it out easier. Also if you don't want the cow to push against you stick a 14 gauge needle in her windpipe. Never tried that either. That is a freak show calf right there.

Could be but I'm thinking things would get pretty western trying to get a cow hung up by her back legs. Especially working by myself.

I have done a tail block with lidocaine to push back in a prolapse.

All done with cow in a chute which is safer for both me and her.

I have had legs back and even a head back presentation but usually you can work between the cow's pushing.
If she won't quit straining, then I have used a tail block for that too
