And still, if he really felt that a defamation lawsuit was warranted (and he got the jury to agree with him), WHY take $1.8 million from a widow and kids???? This is why he is such a douche. Take the jury's finding and call it a day, fuck the money.

It's a little more than this. Ventura's speaking engagements and other sources of income were decimated after the Chris Kyle allegations identified Ventura. The damages awarded in the suit reflect this, and are not arbitrary. Chris Kyle was sued a year before his death, and refused to answer many questions during his deposition the December before he died. A jury found that Kyle had lied to bolster his own reputation and income, and awarded damages based on the injury he caused.

I think Jesse's a bit of a blowhard, but a jury and the evidence say he's in the right on this one.

Jesse Ventura's career was long over. He is/was a has been.
He is no longer relevant, and I am guessing he pursued that suit because he was near broke or needing attention.

So, no matter what, after all this, Jesse loses more than he won. He wouldn't be welcome at any function I can think of, and I imagine the UDT/BUDS/SEALS crowd wouldn't like his smell either.

This seems to be the general consensus. His positions on things like 9/11 and various other conspiracy theories have made most people lose interest in anything he has to say. He was actually a surprisingly good governor, but that almost seems like a different person from who he is today.
