I read about this, he was a real POS and brought a gun to his daughter's school because of a custody dispute with the girl's mother. Unfortunately his daughter watched him try to shoot the police officers then get smoked.

Was hunting the ponds by The Dalles dam off the Columbia River about 6 years ago with my lab and it was getting down to about 20 in the day but nice and sunny. We do the big hike and jump each pond for ducks and while walking between them try to get a goose or two as they fly over.
Its a good work out walking and climbing over the rock ledges and outcroppings and trenches for a 6-7 mile hike. So when you hear the geese coming it's a little break as you suck up against a big rock to make sure the geese don't pick you out.
I was up against a rock wall and a hair under the ledge waiting for the incoming fly by when a big ratter dropped down off the top of the ledge and landed on my legs on his way through, he never even noticed me or the pup. I had my 1100 across my chest with #2 jacked and ready but I chose to let him go in leu of the incoming birds. Missed the birds (too high) and wished I would have sprayed him.

That shuttle bar needs to be replaced. Too much wobble and there isn't any way you can run that machine over 2k without constant jamming.
I know the cameraman had his camcorder on a long stick but if these were cotton mouths, even that would be too darn close.

My opinion? Gunshots are the best way to deal with them. You get rid of the dangerous snakes, and you work on perfecting your shooting skills and accuracy. There is no better deal than that.
