Close. The 1986 ban on any newly manufactured machine guns. The "assault weapons ban" was Clinton.

Clinton signed the Brady Bill, but Reagan did sign the Firearms Owners Protection Act that banned the private ownership of select fire/machine guns made after 1986.
If Ron had not signed the Act, and we all could have "automatic weapons", think how much worse the ammo shortage would be!
It would have shifted the ammunition demand and supply curves up leading to the market necessitating a higher production level to meet higher demand.
