My son has a high level of expertise in this subject. He says that, when a human is infected with a virus like Covid, the human genome/virus interaction leads to the mutation. So, if I understand correctly, the medical scientific community
does believe Delta and other Covid variants are natural mutations. Also, as is typical, the mutations are less deadly, but in the case of Delta, very contagious.
We don't have to use 50 year old tech on the common cold. We can use today's tech.
I'll try to find the journal article that stated the cold was a coronavirus. My understanding is that some colds are attributed to rhinovirus, but not all.
