MP5/SP5 mag function

Hey guys, do you know if a loaded mag should seat when the bolt is closed? I’ve tried to do it and it doesn’t seem to work. Arm is a little weak so I’m not sure if I’m just not pushing hard enough. Thanks.

Typically MP5’s won’t take a full mag with the bolt closed. As there is no bolt hold open, the standard procedure for changing magazines is to lock the bolt to the rear via the charging handle notch, remove the old mag and stow it, insert the new mag and pull down to insure it is locked in, slap the charging handle to the left.

28 rounds makes insert with bolt closed a lot easier.

I can insert with 30 rounds, but it takes a fair effort.
