Not sure of I should put this in Optics, Relaoding or Rifles so please bear with me if I've picked the wrong forum.

I'm waiting on a GAP built M40A1 (24" barrel) with MST100.

I wanted to use M118LR 175gr in the rifle - ranges from 100-1000yds - to match the scope BDC.

I can't find anyone who can guarantee to get stocks of this ammo in the UK.

As an alternative, what factory ammo does anyone find to be a good match for the scope graduations?

Was thinking about GMM 175SMK's....

Thanks in advance

Re: MST 100....what ammo are you using?

Thanks Lindy. I'm not sure if either Black Hills or Corbon are available in the UK. The Black Hills and Corbon websites don't list any dealers outside N. America

The GMM175SMK shows 2600fps and ME of 2627ftlb - same figures are quoted for the American Ballistics M118LR and the Black Hills 175gr hollow point match (using expanding rounds for target work in the UK is not allowed). Corbon shows 2650fps and 2730ftlb

I've read that the load on the mil spec production was changed (late 90'2 eatly '00's ?) after USMC complained that the ammo they were receiving didn't match the BDC on their Unertls

I can't find any info on what it was changed to or the resulting data.....anybody got any intel on this?

Re: MST 100....what ammo are you using?

Whatever you do, try to zero the BDC at 300 yards, and then shoot it at other distances to note deltas. Mine tracks well w/CorBon 175MKs @2600 fps MV.

If you want to try to match up what's available, "Longshot" provided the following drop chart for the BDC knob:

Yards/MOA
100 0
200 2
300 5
400 8
500 12
600 16
700 20.5
800 25
900 31
1000 37.5

Cheers,

Bill

Re: MST 100....what ammo are you using?

Thanks guys

Skunk - I hear what you are saying but hand-loading is not reall yan option for me right now. Not only is there a whole lot more red tape to go through here in the UK to get permission to buy/store powder, but also I don't have a whole lot of time outside of work and family commitments to open that can of worms.

WRM - Thanks for that, I hadn't seen Longshot's post before. It's good to have that available.
