Eon explains why Tesla quality sucks so much , lazy and entitled workers 🧻

The Tesla CEO - who has made himself billions off the back of U.S. government subsidies and the U.S. taxpayer - took to the "Daily Drive" podcast on Friday to make it clear exactly what country his allegiances lie with.

On the podcast, reported by CNBC, he called the people of China “smart” and “hard working” while at the same time calling U.S. citizens "entitled" and "complacent". He specifically called out both New York and California, states whose taxpayers have literally funded Tesla's business with massive tax breaks amounting to billions.

When asked about China as an EV strategy leader worldwide, Musk responded: “China rocks in my opinion. The energy in China is great. People there – there’s like a lot of smart, hard working people. And they’re really -- they’re not entitled, they’re not complacent, whereas I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and L.A. and New York.”

He then compared the U.S. to losing sports teams: “When you’ve been winning for too long you sort of take things for granted. The United States, and especially like California and New York, you’ve been winning for too long. When you’ve been winning too long you take things for granted. So, just like some pro sports team they win a championship you know a bunch of times in a row, they get complacent and they start losing.”

Recall, Tesla secured $1.6 billion in loans from the Chinese government to help build its Shanghai factory, which helped the company resume normal operations post-Covid this year.

Musk - apparently completely devoid of any humility to the amount of money he has received from the U.S. taxpayer - defended his company by say it hadn't received as much government support from the Chinese government as most competitors: “They have been supportive. But it would be weird if they were more supportive to a non-Chinese company. They’re not.”

Tesla's total government assistance in the U.S. has surpassed $4.9 billion, according to CNBC.

When asked about his company's stock, Musk responded: “It’s not worth trying to massage the stock market or manage investor expectations. It’s just. You know? At the end of the day, if you make great cars and the company’s healthy and making great products investors will be happy...If you make lousy products your customers will be unhappy and then your investors will be unhappy.”

He’s not wrong about the entitlement mentality. He pointed out california and New York. The entitlement mentality here in California is fucking nuts. Own a company here and deal with employees and you’ll understand.

His company is a time bomb, I bet one of my hairy balls that it won't last. All the faulty cars he has been making.

He does have a point, look at some of the aircraft industry over the last 10 years.

    50 years ago were building shit like the U2, SR-71, F117, A10, F15/16, F22.....

Now the F35, the new Boeing commercial jet along with other aircraft are total clusterfucks.

Power plant construction is no different.

The industries were dynamic and aggressive, the best thrived while the shitbirds were berated till they quit. Nobody was worried about hurting someone's feelings. You had a mission to build the best stuff and didn't have time to deal with the touchy feely crap.

The soft, weak, entitlement is here. Like someone else said when you have been at the top this long it's kinda hard to maintain it. With all the affirmative action, "diversity committees" at companies.... You know how many crap people we have hired at my plant just to meet a quota, there are just as many that should have been sent down the road because they just suck. HR has put all the power in the employee and taken and power away from supervision or management to maintain standards.

The current culture is making industry weak.

He is right about New York, LA and the Bay area. Terrible place and many terrible people.

Well Elon feel free to pull a Jane Fonda when we have to go kill them. Just don't come back.

He's not right, he fails to see that Americans are not getting bent over a fucking dollar for GDP like the Chinese population is. So because they are not sparing the horses he thinks they will just go and go, and we will just get fat trying to keep up.

Communism will always fail. They will either stagnate due to failure to innovate or be brought down by their own population due to abuses. What has China given the world of value? American shit made poorly. What has China contributed to space exploration? Shit America already did. Where do foreigners come to get higher education? Fucking America.

    What a fucking chode.

I wouldn't just blame all the F-35 woes on Lockheed-Martin. The government is hugely to blame: 1) from beginning wanting 1-size fits all (tried that once or twice with bad results...F-4, F-111 and even an attempt at F-16 (which led to F-18) ), 2) constantly changing requirements for whatever reason (the threat became different or the delivery of particular weapons or any number of things most of us are likely to never know in detail).

Furthermore, the level of engineering skill in this country has eroded severely and we don't have the century series mentality which trained most of our aerospace engineers that were in the business until the 90's. Combine with these BS layoffs at 55 and you have lost all your experience. Sure, kids may be better at computer science stuff, but not usually architecture and seeing stuff that goes wrong.

So, I actually agree with some things mentioned: complacency, entitlement, laziness are all factors as is corporate greed (laying off experience), cutting corners and ignoring obvious design flaws (787), etc. I worked with an engineer from Chrysler on a program - by the end of the first day and certainly by the end of our first team meeting, I knew exactly why Chrysler could not build a quality car...and still cant.

Finally, even though new airplanes often seem to be a cluster, generally speaking, the level of testing is mind boggling. However, if one only tests the "known" failures they're fooling themselves. Semi-conductor industry does much better job of test matrices. How Boeing got the 737-MAX through certification speaks extremely poor on Boeing - to the level of absolute incompetence and that the FAA approved it is also absolute incompetence and seriously the head of the FAA would have been on my desk in formaldehyde had I been POTUS.

Hey Elon, I have a question for you.

How come your cars SUCK so fucking much while Toyota and Honda EXPORT their american-made cars to fucking JAPAN?

I know........you chose to run your businesses in the assholes of America while the Japs were a fuckload smarter than you and went to flyover country where people actually know how to work and how to give a fuck about their work.

    Up yours, motherfucker

Is that the Accord or the Hybrid thing? I was toying with the one that got like 60mpg but it's HEAVY and doesn't handle as well as a typical Accord. I prefer Honda cars over Toyota cars (styling and power delivery is still via available by a real transmission).

2019 Accord Sport 1.5. This thing is a mountain road carving machine.

I went to Thunder Valley today and I take state route 93 north from I-70 to get there. Along the way I ran into a guy in some chevy truck ahead of me. He saw me coming and thought he was gonna teach me a lesson by speeding up. Not only could he not get away on the straights, in the many curves I'd let him get out a bit then would reel him back in at will. LOL I love to fuck with country guys who think they can drive.

Oh yeah, six gears and three pedals

Maybe he should shut down his little rocket port on my fishing beach in south Texas, and take that shit to China. His rockets sit 30 feet from the beach access road. When he wants to fire it up, we have one hour to get off the beach, even if we just got there. Fuck him.

I loved that transmission, in all three cars I had it in. Nothing at that price point is anywhere near as fun. Word of advice... swap the trans oil with the Acura-branded TF or Pennzoil Synchromesh. It'll be slick enough to powershift and stop the eventual 3rd gear gate sticking (starts about 35k miles in).

Make no bones about it, Elon Musk is the PT Barnum of our time in human history.
He is a marketing genius and a showman, not a patriot.
Everything he does is calculated to get the biggest shock and awe factor, all while playing with house money to bring in more suckers through the front door.

I'm sure this statement (right, wrong or assinine as it was) was designed to deflect criticism of the quality issues noted in the cars produced in CN, for CN. The fact that he used the opportunity to take a swipe at CA and NY laziness- just as he's considering a move for Tesla to AZ or NV- is a bold strategy, Cotton.
Let's see if it pays off.

Musk cannot become President. He was born in South Africa.
He is legally an American citizen. As a democrap being born outside the U.S won't stop him if he makes the move in the nearest future. Or have your forgotten Dems are special.

This 6MT is a brand new design for the 2018 MY. It's not a carryover from any previous Honda.

The p/n for Honda and Acura MTF is the same. I seriously doubt there's a difference between them.

My previous job was engineering manager of a Honda supplier that had the NA contract to remanufacture dealer core automatics. Outside of 1 or 2 known factory defects, the number 1 cause of failure was smoked clutches due to people using off brand ATFs.

I never use anything but OEM auto or manual transmission fluids. That's one place where in my experience it matters. It's also likely why I was able to drive a Dodge Dakota for over 200,000 miles without one single transmission issue.

So I don't agree with Musk in much and certainly not this point, but consider a couple of things:

    1) Many on the right - including a large number here in the Pit - are constantly bemoaning "entitlement mentality" of various groups (typically some combination left, urban, and young). What Musk said would be considered milquetoast if posted here minus the Chinese praise.

    2) There is ample evidence that the US is no longer a dynamic culture of thinkers and doers (although there are numerous exceptions and pockets of brilliance - mainly where government hasn't tainted the market with distortions). @missed covered this very well above so I won't hammer the point a second time, but here is some solid further reading:

    3) Musk likes to shit-talk, and treats his public statements the same way most of us treat the Pit.

    4) The Chinese government pretty much owns Musk lock, stock, and barrel. Between tax breaks and all the loans that state banks made to build the new factory (loans secured not only by the physical capital but also by cash flow generated by sales of product), it'd be suicidal for Musk to criticize anything about China. Saying something bad about the colors of the drapes in his hotel room would be ill-advised. He's done if everything doesn't go perfectly according to plan over there.

Marketing genius, :ROFLMAO:  built his company with wealth redistributed to him because he was making some useless thing democrats say we need. Calls others entitled.:ROFLMAO::LOL: Take away all his extra tax breaks and lets see if he feels entitled to them.

It doesn’t matter what location Obama was born. His mom was American, and therefore he qualifies as a natural born American. Where they ran into unsolvable trouble is because he went to both Occidental and Columbia as an Indonesian exchange student claiming not to be an American citizen. That’s why none of his university transcripts have been released to this day.
So, IMHO he was not constitutionally disqualified to run for/be POTUS, but he attended colleges through fraud, which is a word that probably best describes his disastrous presidency...

Japanese and German auto makers seem plenty satisfied with American labor. They have also been pretty slow to adapt to this Technology, most likely because they prefer fuel efficiency to making gigantic batteries which also require a host of natural resources to create.

He should give the money back then and move all business to China. I think he's positioning to deal with China more and its a game

Wait till China tells Eon to leave his China plant that they have it from here because they do it to every business that opens over there. Entitlements and pensions here are bankrupting the Nation, no one can afford to pay people full salaries and benefits for another 30 years plus after they retire at 40. It bleeding the taxpayers dry and will implode one day when the well runs dry.

Elon secretly wants t be President, We have been watching his political advances, Biden, Elon and Kanye seem to have something in common.

Plus he's way to smart to want that shit job. He gets more done in 3 months than a president can do in two terms. He wants to change the world and the presidency is generally a poor platform.

Indeed Musk is smart and at present, he knows lenght of rope allowed for him is immense, at the time when things are going to shit and top 5 of the stock market kings don't produce anything, certainly not anything in US. His position with both Tesla and Space X is invaluable.

We have all see the 4 tech execs testifying before congress, and you could see they have totally free ride, even the Google and FB that couldnt make a straint answer of not meddling in the upcoming election. They realy have no consequences to fear as they represent 90+% of all stock market gains are untouchable like Musk.

Just imagine any anti trust or breaking up monopoly action by the regulators or politicians , the stock bubble would explode devastating the already economy.

I know most have a bad opinions in regards China but you have to give them that they built an industrial superpower, mostly with doing the hard work something their neighbors in India are not ,even close to matching even though they have similar population numbers and had even better access to world markets.Same goes for number of nations in that region , or Mexico on your southern border with direct access to US market still a vastly cheaper workforce than China meaning not much real progress beyond running a sweatshop.

WRT the stock market, breaking up those companies won’t likely have that effect. As example the combined value of the components of Standard Oil quick became more valuable after it was broken up.

I don’t think you understand the market if you think monopolies are good for the market and good for investors. I agree there would be a dip, but it would be very ephemeral.

Monopolies are good for the consumer only in the initial stage where they underbid the competition to create a monopoly but once that is done price hiking starts

In the courrent hyperfinancialised world Big 5 are golden goose no one dare touch, especially in mid-Finacial crisis. They are 100% above the Law untouchable. And Musk with his Tesla and Space X is in the same boat as well maybe even more important as the big 5 make nothing in US , 3 of them just sell your data and one mostly sells Chinese stuff while its wrecks trough small to mid-size businesses.
The stock market may be hovering around all-time highs, but just 5 companies are contributing to the S&P 500′s earnings growth.
Rest of the stock market is underpreforming.

'If The Big 5 Tech Stocks Falter, They'll Take The Rest Of The Stock Market Down With Them'

I don’t bother with big tech, so I know first hand how terribly the rest of the stock market is performing 😆.

The government won’t likely break up big tech. More likely they will try to get them to cooperate. On its face big tech is socially progressive but inwardly they are libertarian. All of their policies eventually become a sort of survival of the fittest. I don’t see many gaining the political will to openly attack these companies.

These companies are huge but none are really monopolies. Consumers do have choice still and the participation with these companies is voluntary.

    Some are absolute monopolists

Microsoft operating systems = a world wide monopoly ad to that bunch of other aps , also important just about every government in the world runs Windows in most if not all public PCs
Google search engine =90% market share monopoly , ad to that android operating systems for mobile devices
Google controls who and what gets seen on the internet

I'll give him some props the people in china are hard workers dam hard workers they want something like to eat they work there buts off for that meal most of the time they have no choices in the matter the government rules with an iron hand not for good the people but to rule over them taking the fruits of there labor and taking it away from them . There aren't that many countries that can reverse engineer another countries technology as well as the Chinese do they are Trixie that way . They have done it for a long time and will continue doing it forever just because free thinking is punishable by death .

Not for lack of choice, it’s the consumer’s preference. If I don’t like a company’s policies then I don’t use their services or platform.
