must see tv

Re: must see tv

I thought their rating system was stupid. At least they got the 408 Cheytac right as 1st place but they should of talked about the 375CT instead!

Why didn't they put the AI 50cal ahead of the Barret 50?

The 416B hasn't lived up to it's potential.

The 6.5x47 should have been up there closer to the top. They should have given it a 1300 yard capability rating and not limited it to 308 capability and range.

What do you guys think?

Re: must see tv

I never understood what the big deal was with the Barret. About the only thing they got right was the 408CT. Isn't the 375CT a wildcat round and no military uses it?

Re: must see tv

Yeah, got to agree in my opinion their rating system was off. I think why the M82 Barrett rated to high was in due to the fact that it was the first .50 cal shoulder fired rifle adopted by the Military.

Also in the .416 Barret part they were completly off when they were talking about how the high velocity cartridge like the .416 has less wind drift because the bullets flying so fast. It more has to do with the B.C. of the bullet that determines drift & drop at extreme long ranges. Thats like saying a .220 swift @1000 yards with a 40 gr bullet at 4200fps is going to drop less than a 180gr .284 Berger pushed at 3000 fps.

Re: must see tv

I couldn't say whether the 375CT is used by any military or LEO but I do know that it's no longer a wildcat cartridge because I have actual Jamison 375Cheytac headstamp brass. It's good stuff too!

If Barret had done some more R&D on the 416 and chosen a heavier higher BC projectile in the 1.1-1.3 range then it might have panned out better for them.

Oh well! that's TV for you.It was fun seeing those weapons though.I would have preferred to see them show the distances they were shooting with the 408.

Re: must see tv

Although it was an entertaining show, it was FULL of inacuracies (but that did not surprise me). How many times did they show a 7.62x39 round and say it was a .308?

There were a lot more. The biggest thing I learned is that the "viewers" are idiots (as evidenced by there voting).

Re: must see tv

I hate the BS that they but forth on some of these shows.

They have to realize that most people that watch these shows have some interest in the topics they are talking about. There fore we might no a thing or two about it....

would it kill them to check with someone first to make sure that the info given is accurate.

Re: must see tv

The thing that drove me nuts was that they were right there filming next to the gun firing, but they put "Hollywood" rifle sounds in the show. Why not just use what the gun actually sounds like, especially the suppressed ones.

Also, on one of the gas piston AR's (it was the one they showed changing the uppers on), did anyone else notice how much it was jamming when they were firing it? The shooter had to keep manually working the bolt.

And, on the McMillan tac-50, when they did their little graph showing the portability, accuracy, knock down power, etc they had it at 4 stars for knock down power but every other 50 on there got 5 stars....even the 338 got 5 stars. What the hell?
