I finally got to shoot my Savage 308 with a factory muzzle brake in preparation for deer season. I was shooting 110gr TAP ammo which is a light load to begin with. It was cool being on target after the shot and not readjusting the gun's position to see the hit. recoil was definitely lighter than my 243. Shot some 168 amax also and they were easy shooting also. I am a big fan of muzzle brakes now. I also was shooting my new Nitrex 3x15x42 for the first time. It is night and day above any other scope that can be purchased for 200 bucks after rebate. I have looked through some nice glass and this was as nice as any I have used. Check them out at Natchez.

Re: Muzzle brake 1st

No doubt I should work on my shooting more to be able to spot my shots without a brake. Thats what the gun is for. I need to get my reloading stuff setup so I can afford to feed this gun. I spend so much on pistol I don't think rifle ammo beyond what I need to hunt is in the cards right now. I just really liked the recoil reduction it provides. I will wear electronic muffs when I deer hunt this season. No way am I touching that gun off without it. My shooting buddy went 20 yards behind me without protection just because he was curious how loud it was without muff. He won't do that again
