OK, So my new brake just came in the mail today and I am about to bring the rig down to the gunsmith.

My question is, would it be better to have the brake permanently fixed to the barrel with something like locktite, or not and just have them also make a thread protector?

Using loctite for MB is not a smart idea, as you may want to remove it, for example for cleaning both barrel and brake. Much easier to clean barrel w/o MB. But having a thread protector is always a good idea, if weapon is used w/o MB.

Shoot me, but I have a real hard time understanding the idea of using loctite anywhere on the rifle. Rifle is the subject for relatively frequent assembly/disassembly, and loctite, blue, red or whatever else, will always complicate this task.

Is there any army in the world that uses loctite for firearms? Never heard of any. And firearms in the army see much more harsh use, in general, than civilian owned fierarms.

Depends on what you want to do with your rifle. I had Chad Dixon put brakes on two of my rifles. One is my 375 H&H, no reason to take it off so I don't.

The other is a Model 70 in 300 WM. I use it in NRA 1000 yard matches. They don't allow brakes so it needs to come off. Chad made a thread protector I use for matches.
