Muzzle break and POI shift or groups opening up ...

Any one notice a minor POI shift with their muzzle break ? Maybe its me but i put a SJC break on mt POF and the groups went from 1/2 5 shot to about an inch ? This just me or is this normal?

It happens. Anytime you put something on the muzzle that wasn't there before it can negatively affect things. I've had it happen a couple times with a .308 brake and a .223 brake. The solution was to swap out brakes for something else.

anything that can change the harmonics can change accuracy and groups.

Poi change is common once you add one but the groups usually dont change for me on any of my rigs that have a brake( all 8 rifles I have, have one), honestly for me its more getting used to the xtra noise they make but thats my take on adding a Brake'

thats what i figured any addition to barrel will mess with the harmonics and can open groups just making sure i was not the opnly one getting this problem. lol

Never had a POI shift or groups open up due to a muzzle device that was not a suppressor. Even then I've only had POI shift suppressed, never had group open up. Even the Magnetospeed only had a marginal POI shift with no "apparent" change in group size.

what barrel profile? perhaps a bull barrel is less apt to be affected easily.

it was a loki weapons systems double fluted 18" rifle length gas block
