After much going back and forth in my head about this I think its official, Im going to brake my SPS V. I feel its the first step in creating something Im going to hold on to for years. I however have a couple of questions, and am looking on some help. If you can answer any of the questions please do.
Note: I do know that .308 probably doesn't need a break on it but I want one, every time a read something about a custom gun and the recoil, or crowning problems the end is broke, and the crowning on my stock SPS-V is not the best so I figure I might as well put a break on it if Im going to get a crown job done and maybe get some recoil reduced so the wife and step son can shoot a little more. So please don't eat this tread apart.
First, what's the average cost of getting one installed, I had a Vortex installed on my bushmaster and I think it was relative inexpensive, however Im not sure getting something this loved done at Gander Mt. again.
Second: Im favored to the Smith Enterprises 1005-SS due to demonstrations and reports and such, as well as the fact I can get a suppressor down the road (if I ever get the money) But Im worried about the outside diameter, will there be a great difference between my 700's "0.820 O.D
Third: A lot people boast the twist rate in the SPS-V are good, I was wondering if a few inches off would do anything from the standard 26". I have it on a B&C but haven't shot it a whole lot, I dont know the pro's and con's of shorting besides weight and length, and basic understanding of velocities. Donno if Im brave enough for the 20" and I dont really want to lessen my velocity for range purposes. But I dont want the weapon to be unwieldy with the break installed, its about 2 inches long. And what would be the additional cost to the brake job, as well.
