My AI AW .338 Lapua - A Work in Progress

I'm starting this thread to document my experiences with an Accuracy International 1.5 Arctic Warfare Super Magnum in .339 Lapua. I've always wanted to get into a larger caliber, elr rifle platform and when this came up for sale on the Hide, I could not pass it up. The seller could not have been easier to work with and offered me a great opportunity. I've owned and shot several other bolt actions, all in .308. I built a 5.56 SBR, but the hankering for a larger caliber rifle like this never went away.

My training facility where I've been a member for a number of years got their 2200 yard rifle range up and running last year and the hankering only got worse (or better?).

Here are the specs on it.

- Accuracy International 1.5 AW Super Magnum in .338LM
- Rebarreled by American Precision Arm with a 30" Broughton Barrel in 1-9.3 Twist with APA Gen2 Fat Bastard Muzzle Brake
- 2 AI scope mounts (1 with 45MOA cant and 1 with 28MOA cant, both 34mm)
- 2 338LM AI Mags
- All metal CeraKoted Tan
- Skins dipped in ATAC's camo
- Round Count is exactly 120

I've since acquired the hardware to use the Atlas 5-H Bipod system on it.

I have a Nightforce ATACR 5-25 F1 .250 MOA MOAR CW PTL Digillum scope for it, that I purchased like new (literally) from another Hide member.

Zero it, then do a tall target test to make sure that the turrets are working as expected, get your load cronoed then run the numbers in JBM to get some starting come-ups.

Update:

I installed the Atlas 5-H bipod on it with the AI spiggot and rail piece. Fantastic, a great choice for this beast of a rifle.

I really like it, I didn't buy the rifle because of it, obviously, and I probably would not have thought to have it done like this, but ... it is a pretty nice bonus to the rifle.
