hey guys. i got my atlas v8 in the mail today. I bought it used off of this forum. It is awsome and feels much sturdier than the harris. I have a question though. While deploying on of the legs it feels very grity and hard to move while the other is glassy smooth. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Re: My Atlas V8

^ What he said. Congrats on the V8 btw. Just got mine in the mail today as well (big thanks to Steve and Triad Tactical). So far it's everything I wanted and more, although I had to add a crush washer in front of the tension knob on my AI spigot due to some unwanted slop but now it locks up tight and I couldn't be happier. Enjoy your new purchase!

I really need to get a Harris for one of my projects. I went from pos wal mart bipods to the Atlas and it would be nice to have something a little better for comparison.

Re: My Atlas V8

THEBEARRRRRRJEW, the spigot is suppose to have a SS washer and a SS lock washer then the tension knob, did yours have those and still there was slop?

It did have both washers. Even so, it still had some slop going forward and backward. My earlier post said that I added a crush washer, but my nomenclature was incorrect. Adding another lock washer did the trick. In the photo you can see the black lock washer that I added butted up against the mounting block behind the SS lock washer.

Re: My Atlas V8

I suspect the spigot is out of spec., the slot on the thread end is suppose to terminate right below the threads. We had another spigot with that issue, so since then we've started a QC check to verify they are within specs.

Sorry for the trouble and if you want to check the slot and find it is not as described, (if unsure of what I tried to describe, email me a photo of the spigot out of the block slots visible) we'll replace it.

Re: My Atlas V8

That's what they told me as well.

Seeing this bipod porn has me thinking about a second set.
You have to start a new build somewhere right?.

Re: My Atlas V8

Does anyone like the old style better where you only need to find the leg to deploy instead of find an exact spot on the leg to deploy?

I'm starting to wonder if I really want to upgrade.
