I’ve shot my best 10 round group and score today.
Anschutz 1907
Anschutz Olympic rear sight
Gehmann adjustable rear iris
Gehmann adjustable front iris
91 m (100 yards)
RWS rifle match
Prone position
Harris bipod
NO rear bag
Overcast with light wind
After I’ve shot this target, decided I’m done for today.
Usually my groups are 1.5~2.0” at this distance.

That's pretty nice. Why don't you use a scope? I don't think my eyes will see 100 yards with any clarity.
But if I can see it, I can kill it. These Trijicon 5 - 50 x 56s are nice scopes and worth every dime.

Nice wallet group....what annoys me is you did it with iron sights.
Something I have attempted repeatedly, but lack the talent to accomplish.

My other problem is you failed to include my rifle pron.
Where's the pic of the setup and view downrange.
C'mon....those images help get me through the workday. ;)

I also shoot with a scope, Vortex razor g2 hd 4.7-27x56 ffp MIL. When shooting with a scope is very hard to monitor the rifle response (recoil direction) during the follow through. With open/Olympic sights, rifle’s response in the follow through is major focus and feedback from your shots execution. If you have been Olympic discipline shooter competitor, you know what I’m talking about. This way you create repeatable proper muscle memory. For this reason I shoot open sights 50% of my shooting time. If I can see the target, I prefer to shoot with open sights. I’m not that good guys. Get open sights, and you will be amazed by your results. I did this experiment with a friend from the club I shoot. He could not believe he shot better groups with open sights.

Here are older photos of my set when I was using rear bag. 20 shots on the target. Just a regular Anschutz 1907 with Harris bipod. No rear bag anymore. Third photo is a view from the range, but shooting my Anschutz 1761 22 wmr.

Just wanted to jump in and say congratulations ! Super stoked for you !

It's always a great feeling when you better your previous best group, or distance, or time, or whatever.

Here's to you ! 🍻

Outstanding shooting! One thing I like, and it's helped my through the years of scope shooting too, is open sights make you hold a 'sight picture'. This goes on in the back of my head while shooting scopes in that if my parallax is off, I see it in the size of the black and where it sits in the stadia.

I love shooting open sights. My favorites though are my CG-63 and my FSR-89. I'll note though, when you drop one, you DUMP it. Not like F-class where you drop a nine or eight. You drop one clear off the scoring ring. That's 400 and 600.

NO, NO.... no Olympic shooter here, just some 50 meter pellet gun comps. I was a sleazy unlimited B class shooter. We get classed by prior performance in Field Target matches. I just bought a 1927 Winchester 52 and had to shoot it open sights due to lack of scope rail. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I'm so used to shooting with 5-50 power Trijicon glass that open sights feel like a foreign concept. Even Diopters..... I was able to keep ten shots in a group of about .78" ctc. at sixty yards and that felt good. Still I just got a rail to test out the 52s maximum potential. Hitting 3/8" wide swinger is a pretty easy task with her using SK ammo.
On Friday I should have a Springfield 1922 M2 in hand to start playing with. I may have a rail custom cut for it bc I'm not going to alter the gun
any more than removing the rear sight from it's dove tail temporarily. Anybody know where I can get repo 1922 M2 mags??

Sako p94s range with Sako TRG trigger.

Bipod only
