I have a bunch of C series Cerakote that I needed to use so I tried a desert type camo. I copied the riptile pattern as best I could.

Looks great. Not sure which airbrush you're using but if you turn the airflow down and widen your spray, you'll be able to soften the edges of the (in this case) black. This will make it look even better than it does. Don't worry about the soft (overspray) edge following the contour of the masking perfectly. In fact, a slightly irregular soft edge will add some realism. I'm not a stock painter but I made a living as an artist for almost 20 years and airbrush was one of my mediums.

I wish I had the money to buy all the equipment to prep stocks because I've always wanted to use my painting skills on them. I'm jealous! Lol! Keep it up - you're doing great!

My first take at the black was softer but much wider. I'm using an Iwata LPH-80 at about 7 psi. The flow wasn't right for sure. It was barely visible when spraying and then came out fast. I had my hands full and wasn't able to get it adjusted just right so just went with it.

I will definitely do it softer next time. I may have to use the airbrush to not go so wide, though. I wish I was artistic. I imagine you'd do some cool things with stocks.

Well, the black is much more faded here but the coyote tan 'dots' show through the FDE as though they were iridescent. They show up in off angle lighting.
