So today my trip to cabelas i got me one of these purdy OAL gauges and i keep coming up with 2.935in. in my remmy 700 aac in .308 and that seems a little long so what do the wisemen have to say
thanks Dan

In my sps-v I load to 2.950 with 175 smk's and still don't touch the lands.

700's typically have looooong freebores from the factory. You are just going to have to figure out the best OAL for your rifle. Total distance to the lands will vary with different bullets. I cannot jam a load in my 700.

Good luck.

My factory Remington 308 chambers are so long there isn't enough bullet remaining in the neck to run them long seated. However my bug hole groups at mag length don't warrant them to be close to the lands. Load away around 2.800 or so and carry on.
