Well, I just finished my 1st Ar build. Before you laugh at some parts, understand this is not a serious rifle. It's for plinking, possible 3 gun use and I may hog hunt with it. With the list of parts I used in this thing, I swear I can hear Johnny Cash sing "One Piece at a Time" when I pull it out

Upper & Lower receiver: Essential Arms
Barrel & lower parts kit: DPMS
Stock: Tapco T6
Grip: Magpul MIAD
Bolt & carrier: Daniel Defense

Ejection port cover: High Standard
Hand guards, delta ring, vert foregrip & rail: Damnifiknow (huge company, they usually sell at gunshows

Re: My Frankenstein AR build

Looks like a nice rifle to me!

My best AR has parts from Armalite, Daniel Defense, Rock River, Magpul, CavArms, Ametec, and LMT.

If its for shooting, and not for show, get the best parts for the money.

Re: My Frankenstein AR build

So far I've run about 12 boxes through it and it runs just fine. Got it zeroed today and now I'm ready to see what it will do. I'm trying to decide on optics too. Any suggestions on a red dot for under $200.00 that's not a POS?

Shooter, I know exactly what you are saying. I see too many people with way too much money tied up in a rifle they can't hit a damn thing with (but they think they look really cool....) They think fancy parts make up for lack of skill. I didn't build this rifle to impress anybody. I could've used high dollar parts, but there was no reason. I built it to enjoy, shoot the hell out of it and not worry if it gets wet or muddy

AZ EMS, what kind of scope are you using? I looked at a Millet today. I think it was a 1.5-4 and it had a "donut of death" reticle. It looks like it might work. I'm still undecided, plus funds are low.
