Load at 67 gr. Still doesn't show any type of pressure but seemed like the top of the node so I had no need to push farther to find any. In your eyes what load showed the most promise? I'm guessing the 66.2 gr. Load is about at its best but I would like some more experienced opinions. I thought about loading 10 each of the 66.2 and 66.7 loads and shooting two more 5 shot groups for each but seems like the 66.2 has the least vert. Of any.

I was trying to save on components here is why the first test was 3 shot groups and the 2nd 4 shots. Ignore the zero going from high to low I didn't remember to bring it down until my last 2 loads and on the 67 gr. Load the black dot in the bulls eye was put there because the lighting change on the target and it made it easier to focus on the center.

Thanks,
Brandon

Re: My load devolpment ocw method. opinions?

66.5g on the first page looks pretty convincing to me lol, but it seemed to open up in the later pictures. Any idea? I would probably just jump on the 66.2-66.7 since it is really close to the 66.5 that shot great on the first picture, AND it looked pretty good in the others. I'd shoot them some more at around 66.5 and see what happens a bit further out.

Id get some velocity and spread data, or take that 66ish load out and see what happens at distance.

I would call the 66.2-66.7 loads your sweet spot. I would reshoot with 66.2, 66.5, and 66.7 for fine tuning. What zoom scope are you shooting? Are you on a steady rest?

Re: My load devolpment ocw method. opinions?

Thanks for the replies. I think I kinda messed with the test by moving my zero half way into it. I'm going to reload 66-66.7 and shoot again and carry it out to around 300 for this test.

I have been using my 3.5-10x50 pentax lightseeker but I'm going to put my 15x elite on it for this test?

I was resting on a front and rear bag shooting

Moving your zero during the test would mess the test up. When you retest the 66-66.7 dont change a thing, you want to see a pattern. Once you find the OCW then you can adjust COL to fine tune. good luck...

Re: My load devolpment ocw method. opinions?

FWIW, when I do an OCW test, I shoot one sighter with factory ammo to verify where my scope is set at and then adjust the POI off of the bullseye/target spot/etc. so that it does not get destroyed in the process. Afterwards, I dial back and shoot a final sighter with the same factory ammo.

The way I understand it, OCW is supposed to be shot round robin style.

The higher zoom should help you focus on dead center. Good luck, and post the results

Re: My load devolpment ocw method. opinions?

Not sure if you did your test right. I do allot of testing using OCW. 65.0 appears to be your accuracy node. Notice that the charges below and above 65.0 group the same point of impact as 65.0 and are about the same size. Notice how your 66.5 and 67.0 groups open up dramatically and don't hit with the same poi as 66.7, this is not in a node. Also, I have had two 7mags and have developed loads for about 5 others, and all of them shoot 65.0 grains of Re 22 lights out every time. Your test seems to reflect this also.
