Robert Snyder (RW Snyder Guns & Gunsmithing) just had my new 338 Norma delivered. This thing is a work of art - I couldn't have asked for more, and the trigger is simply amazing. I am used to the competition two stage triggers, and this one definately takes some getting used to. I do believe it is the lightest, crispest trigger I ever pulled.
Specs:
US Optics SN-3, 35mm tube, MOA reticle
Lawton Action
Brux Spiral Fluted "unturned" barrel
FTE Brake
Manners Stock
GG&G Bipod
I had some US869 Powder and used it to fire the first loads. I was worried about recoil and not at all concerned with ever humping this thing up a mountain so I had it built extremely heavy. I fired 100 rounds today and the recoil is way less than my M1A.
For the first day, and with not the best powder I think it did really well. I think the group sizes will shrink a bit as I get used to the "don't breathe on it" trigger.
Here is a 100yd 5 shot group + 1 sighter that actually hit the center today:
Here is a shot of the 1st 10 rounds down the tube with cleaning in between:
At 300 hundred yards we blew a chunk out of a piece of plate. At 400 yards a 6" x 12" plate was getting hit most of the afternoon. I am truly impressed with my first custom rifle.
Thank you to Robert for making a dream a reality. The rifle showed up the way I'd hoped - absolutely nothing out of place, ready to go.
