I've been wanting to do this since I opened the doors to this place. Yesterdays we took the daughter to the doc to get her fixed up on her new insulin pump (T1 diabetes).

After I decided to spend some of the shekels I swindle out of you guys on a new bench. Then added a Big ol glass plate for mixin the puddin, a vice with soft jaws for holding onto barrels as they are masked off and slopped with puddin, and a ball/socket cradle for getting the stocks nice and level.

I figured I'd better get pics now cause in a month it'll have slop all over.

Can't wait to get through all these receivers so I can try the bugger out.

Cool stuff. Thanks to you all we will hopefully continue to grow and improve the facility. This will only serve to further reduce lead times and refine our products.

    Woo Hoo!

Is the soft jaw vise station so you can bed a stock by laying it on top of the barreled action? </div></div>

No. Just a convenient way to hold onto the action while claying it up, masking, etc.

    Not gonna happen buddy.

    Sorry. . .(not really

Btw, I'm investigating a new product for that. Have samples enroute so we'll see how the stuff does. Looks really good though.

Nice....and I no longer wonder why I feel like I need an extra hand at some stages when I am bedding a rifle. The right tools make all the difference! You can clearly see the difference between a professional who does multiple rifles and a do-it-yourselfer like me that does a 2 or 3 a year. The results can be similiar but the ease of getting there is not even close.

    Yesser.

One of my many tricks with bedding is mixing the resin on a glass plate. Folding the material into itself instead of whipping it in a cup mitigates the introduction of air. I can also spread it out paper thin on the plate which extends the work time. Remember, resin cures. This is a chemical reaction. When you pile it all up in a cup the stuff generates heat, quite a bit of it sometimes depending on the product. That increases the % of shrinkage, reduces work time, and forces a guy to rush.

Rushing a bedding job is a recipe for disaster. I had the plate cut to size and it cost me $25 bucks. Pretty small investment that goes a long way to avoiding the headaches associated with a botched bedding job that has to be torn out and done over.

Very well thought out and efficient. My attempts at bedding usually result in me looking like tar baby covered in bedding material and more time with clean up than the actual job took. Now that you have teased us with this station of the shop, do you mind sharing some other shop photos? I certainly do not mind stealing shamelessly great ideas for shop tools and layout.

Take care and thank you for sharing,

Great looking shop there. I've got one of those tables for my reloading bench.
BTW your daughter will love the insulin pump! I had diabetes for 36 of my 42 years. I had to get a Kidney/Pancreas transplant last year so I'm not diabetic anymore. Let me know if y'all need a backup insulin pump just in case. I have one around here somewhere.

Very nice gesture! So far she's diggin it. Runnin in the low 100s now instead of 2s n 3s.

Think we gotta spike her basal at night though. She's still a pinch high in the early am. Heavy dawn effect me thinks.

8:1 carb ratio fer now. A1c is really good though!

This is sooo much better than when she'd set a keto stick on fire!

    Thanks again

    Chad,

I have noticed that your missing one important shop feature in all of your pictures. I do not see any Anti Fatigue mats anywhere in your pictures???

I am basically jumping from mat to mat at the end of the day because of all the standing I do. Maybe you have a harness suspension system that you float around Mission Impossible style...lol

As long as they are black and tactical..... we are OK.

If someone wants a cheap and easy way to mix bedding material go to your local autobody supply store. Buy one of the mixing boards with tear off sheets. Each time you mix some bedding use the method mentioned, folding the material instead of mixing in a cup. After you are finished all you have to do is rip off the top sheet and toss it, then you have a fresh paper for your next mix job. A lot easier if you don't feel like putting the time into a nice bench and then having to deal with clean up.
