So, I have my dream rifle(complete) as well as a few budget builds in progress. In total I have four bolt guns but truthfully only use one(AI AW) and occasionally will take out the second(Howa 1500 308) just to play with.

I almost think I would be better off selling my Remington than sending it somewhere(GAP). I have always had issues with the consistency of that rifle and truthfully don't feel the action is as good as an Howa.

My Howa(which I absolutely love) still gives my AI a pretty competitive run in accuracy. Planned upgrades include a Manners stock and CDI DBM, but I would need to move some stuff first. To finish it off would be my second Nightforce if I ever got the money.

The fourth is just kind of there and being dealt with at this time.

So I guess my question is, should I get rid of the Remington and keep the two I do use or hang on to it, send it to GAP and just be patient for the three years it will take me to finish all of them(including scopes). Also if I did keep it(and if you were me), would you finish the upgrades to the one that already shoots, or get the problem child taken care of. The fourth rifle is going to be around to teach the boys how to shoot when they are old enough, and to get the wife out to have some fun with us.

Curious to hear your opinions.

Re: My situation Advice welcome

In my honest opinion, I would rebarrel the Remy with a shilen or something and have the action lugs trued and bed that action. I just rebarreled my savage for $325 from Midway for a prefit and it shoots lights out with 175 Match Burners from Barnes. It all comes down to this... Do you wanna spend the time and effort on another .308 I presume in that remy 700 and possibly do a barrel swap and caliber change or something, or do you wanna use the money to upgrade your AI AW. I seen a guy selling BRUX barrel blanks here recently on the Hide and I would go that route if I had another R700 action to use and the funds to build it. The way I look at it is not to many people complain about the R700 action. Personally Im the kind of guy that will upgrade anytime I can. My buddy wont sell a gun for any reason what so ever. Its really your choice my friend. Whatever you choose just make sure its gonna make you happy and not something you will regret later.
