Well its not that "Cool" of a cartridge.

Savage 220F 20ga slug gun
Mcmillan Brand spankin new (Just for the 220F) M40 stock 70% black 15% OD green 15% med brown
EGW 20MOA base (recommended from Savage)
Burris Zee Rings
Nikon M223 scope
Kampfeld Fluted bolt body and coated
and a SSS Varmit spring (Which im currently going to get a Rifle Basix trigger cause the Accutrigger SUCKS)
So its not some Long range super cartrige like the Norma but definatly trying to make a very accurate slug gun. This stock just arrived 2 days ago and I think its really going to help over the tupperware stock it came with.

If the "Joplin" is up to it Im going to send it to him for a bedding job and have him recut a crown on it.
Not to be ignorant but this is the only savage I own. What other little things can be done to help accuracy? Can the lugs be lapped?

No need, floating bolt head keeps the contact even.
I don't know if it would do anything to check the threads and trueness of the lock nut face, and a better recoil lug couldn't hurt.
What is the accuray potential of a 20ga slug under the best of circumstances? The phrase "diminishing returns" come tomind strongly on this one....

Yep I think you may be right. With the old stock on it I could consistantly shoot 1.5" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with Remington Accutips. I would like a crown cut on it. There is no crown on the end of the barrel except for the typical roll over shotgun style crown

I think it looks great, and is a neat idea. Will make for one hell of a deer slayer.

Pretty neat. You will be limited by your ammo accuracy wise, but you will have the nicest slug gun made. Very devastating on deer.

If I were you I would be looking into getting some brass hulls for it and working up a handload more like a rifle cartridge.

If MO ever goes to shotgun only, that's what I want. I've never owned a Savage but would have to buy one like that if I had to deer hunt with slugs.

The Southern portion of Michigan is also shotgun only for deer during gun season. I've been tempted to pick up a 220 as well, just haven't gotten around to it. Keep us informed on how she shoots.

I would love one of these in 12 gauge for some southern Michigan hunting. I am thinking that 250 yards would be feasible with this thing, or close to it.

They are coming out with a 212 in 12ga. However I beleive its not based on the 110 LA.
Im also thinking 250 yards. If I can get the Core lokts to shoot well I might play at 300 yards. With a 2.0" high at 50 yards there 2.7" high at 100 and 6.6" low at 200. They are a very flat shooting slug

I know jack about shotguns...but that's the baddest looking one I've ever seen.
Far as the slugs go, how heavy a slug can that sling- and what accuracy would you expect?

As far as range im hoping it be a conistant 200 yard gun which means 2.5" groups at 200 yards. Probley 250 yards max and I might play at 300. Most your High performance slugs are running 1900fps with a 260gr bullet
