He was a Chief Petty Officer which is an E7 he was not a Senior Chief which is an E8 now he is a Petty Officer First Class if you look at his uniform his anchors do not have a star above them I did 20 years in the Navy and retired honorably as a Chief Petty Officer so I know the difference between a Chief and a Senior Chief.
