neat idea for a bullpup

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

Yeah it's cool, but what does he use to keep the heat off his face..? Wouldn't that get a little hot being right above the action..? How about the weight distribution..? I tend to think the bull-pups are awesome for their intended use, BUT they are VERY specifically purpose built weapons are they not..?

Axeman you have some cool rifles..!

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

That is very cool. Now if it was reliable enough it would be great. I shoot with both hands so that would make a great coyote rifle. A 308 would be handy. Would make a very nice deer hunting rifle. I do like the short handling hunting rifles. Long range is a different game so this would be cool.

A strip of silicone foam or sponge would take care of excess heat. I predict this guy will have a decent market for this product even if it is a novelty.

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

Someone needs to hire this guy! That is a smart dude. I like the use of a triangle shaped bolt, I was looking at designing a similar system to prevent carrier tilt with piston systems. Heat would not be a concern the way he has it setup. Bull-pup rifles are extremely useful in military and and LEO. Bull-pups however usually suck for mag changes, and bad triggers. Which would not be ideal for competitions. Each design has its pro and cons.

It uses a piston, so the heat stays up front.

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

That is pretty slick! A piston gun, bullpup, and AR15 all rolled into one! Hells yes, I would check it out if it comes to the market. A 20 incher in the compact size of a 16 inch carbine. I think it has a place especially with ambidextrous ejection. That in itself is unique and will have it's own little piece of the market.

Why not? If you have four already why have number five? This is just a reason to have another rifle. I shoot with both hands so it is cool.

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

I think collecting completely different firearms is a great reason to buy another rifle, personally, but hey, to each his own.
As good as ARs are, I think it's a shame that other great guns are often seemingly disregarded as a result, judging from commercial success.
Which kind of brings me to what I think of this lower... I believe you'd be much better off with a dedicated bullpup gun, like an AUG, FS2000, Tavor, depending on preference.
Of course this would be fun to screw around with if you have an AR already, which, admittedly, everyone and their dogs do.

I hope I'm not committing some kind of gun-heresy here now :p

Sadly we can't get the Tavor in the USA.

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

I have yet to see one here either. You see the occasional AUG and we have exactly one FS2000 and 3 semi-auto FAMASs in this country.
Laws of all countries involved make importing some rifles such a PITA that not many people bother, though in case of the FAMAS only 200 were produced semi-auto iirc. A low number, in any case.

You do get the awesome FS2000 relatively easily, the AUG and MSAR, the Kel-tec RFB.

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

I'm not a fan of bullpups but this one looks like it could be a keeper depending on the pricepoint and who makes it. Mostly I'd love to see a thing like this take off so maybe the ATF will concede that its retarded to require a 200$ stamp for a 10" AR with the same OAL.

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

i was looking at ''The AR-15 lower inside the Longziz lower'' picture, you can make it a many caliber system 556/308 with this carrier lower and switch upper /lower sub group ...great idea !!!on ar15com has more info and pictures a must look !

Re: neat idea for a bullpup

I saw him post info on the rifle he modified over at Glocktalk. It is impressive. As stated above - he needs a job working for a gun company
