Picked up another savage 17hmr heavy barrel. Looking to slay some birds and small game. I dont think that ill be shooting over 150 yards. What scopes would you guys suggest around $150 or so? My only second thought is that ive got my eyes on a SS, but i dont wanna break my bank on it lol. Let me know what you guys think.

I don’t have any experience behind a bsa but I would caution you on the magnification range for hunting at 150 on in. 24x would be a little much and depending on the area you are in 6 may be too much for many situations. Something with a low end around 2x or 3x and a high end of 9x-15x would be plenty.

So the bsa would not be a good choice. I dont really know any other scopes in that price range beside redfield revolution. That is one of the scopes i have been looking at

Ive been running a 1.5-6x42mm nikon on my muzzleloader and a 3.5-10x42mm leupold on my centerfire for hunting in montana.

I made a 175 yard shot on a mule deer this year with the 10x and didn’t feel under powered. Often people believe that the more power = a better scope and when hunting that is not always the case. The year before last my hunting partner had his scope turned up to 18x and almost missed a shot on a nice mulie because he could not find him and in the rush the deer moved over the hill. We ended up get him on the other side and by then he had dialed back on the power
