I'm looking at purchasing 7.62 and have narrowed my choices…So I hope. I've narrowed to Larue OBR 7.62, Super SASS, LWRC REPR, and GAP 10. I'm hoping to keep price down, but with this group I'm not sure possible. The GAP site gives very little on info and how to make or buy mods other that the price and/or if any other mods are available. Love the Larue, it's on costly side of the bunch. Right now because of price I'm leaning toward the Super SAS. Would appreciate all technical and personal feedback. Thanks. Oh, and would prefer 20" barrel.

Part of the fun with buying a rifle is the research that comes with it and talking to the various dealers on price and modifications you want done to it. I think GAP may be the most flexible for Mods but I may be wrong on that one.

Re: Need a little help?

Thanks JS, I will call all of them. You're totally right, picking is half the fun. Trying to get the most for your dollar is the hard part. I recently had a Sig 716 precision marksman on order and paid for. I waited 7 months to then hear that the project was indefinitely cancelled. Really irked me! I know I read a lot about people not being fond of the Sig US, but this particular rifle was being made in the European factory. I have had good luck with all my Sig's as well as my brother. I've had two 239's and a 226 tactical operations. My bro went with the 1911 stainless rail. Never a problem from any of them. I just hope I can figure out what the best deal is for the buck. I think each of the rifles I have narrowed down have 1 MOA or better and two at least with guarantees. If you can think of any more I should add let me know. I did rule out Les Bauer, Knights and AI (yes, I know that last one is bolt) all due to being over my budget. I still have to think of getting glass for it.

Re: Need a little help?

I think from what I have read about the GAP 10 I wouldn't definitely talk to them first. They have seemed to have gotten it right for a gas system. Lots to read in other threads on the systems you have mentioned. Good luck in your search.

Re: Need a little help?

Talked to everyone. The GAP is great gun but was not suppressor friendly b/c it was direct gas. Les Bauer and the Larue were just too much out of my range when I got all of the add on's that the Super SASS had. I had to hold back a little for some decent glass. GAP would have been great but I am looking at suppressing in the future and needed the adjustable gas system, or rather, felt more comfortable with it. Little heavier than I was hoping but going to be using bipod so it will just be carrying it that is heavy. I heard something about a scope that someone got on here for $500 off two months ago. Some kind of Super 5-20, normally $1500, there was a link or something for $1000??? Anyone know what I'm talking about. Oh, I got the Super SASS for $2400. That is w/o glass.

Re: Need a little help?

The scope in question is the super sniper 5-20.
That deal expired.

There are several others in that price bracket (1300-1500).
The new Bushnell HDMR, Super Sniper, IOR etc... These are primarily FFP scopes. If you want SFP, your olptions really open up in that price range.

Re: Need a little help?

I have a DI SR-25 EMC that has it's own suppressor and runs great with a can. Don't get wrapped up thinking that you need a piston gun for use with a suppressor. They will get dirty but it's not a real issue unless you dump ammo or shoot tons of rounds.
