I just got a new to me 6.5 saum. The rifle is a Stiller action, 24” proof carbon and a Manners EH1 so fairly light at
7lbs as it sits so I don’t think I want to run a super heavy optic.

On my other rifles I currently have NXS in various formats, several t5xi 5-25 SCR’s, and a pair of k624i’s in MSR and like everything but their weight.

This is mostly a packable deer hunting rifle and shots range from 200yds to as far as a guy cares to shoot which makes me lean to a higher top end of 18-20 or so. It may get used occasionally for elk and bears in thicker terrain so a lower bottom end may be of use to me.

I typically dial elevation and hold windage for what it is worth.

Wants:
Fairly light weight
FFP
Mil-Rad reticle that isn crazy busy
Zero stop
Locking windage (not a deal breaker)
preferably around $2000

Not opposed to buying used optics

So what says the group?

Under $2k, Leupold Mark 5 3.6-18x44 is easily one of your better options.

Another excellent option is Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x44.

I think these two should be at the top of your list. Beyond that, I would take a look at Bushnell LRTSi 4.5-18x44 and EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x50.

Generally, TT315M, TT315H and March 3-24x52 are perfect for this application, but you won't find them in the $2k range easily.

AMG 6-24x50 is a very good option if you can live with 6x on the low end.

Remember Op, the AMG has the thinnest smallest reticle of any scope mentioned. That may or may not be what you are looking for in a hunting rifle. I sold two Vortex AMG scopes for that very reason. I consider it more of a target scope than a do all crossover scope.

If Vortex would bring back the EBR2C or 2D and size it like they did in the PST Gen 2 pst 3-15 and drop it in the AMG, i would buy a couple in a heartbeat. That would make a true crossover scope.

The Leupold with the TMR and the Bushnell with the LRTSI are much more suitable to shoot in the low to mid power ranges and yet still not be too thick on max mag for hunting use.
