I am wanting to build a hunting rifle, can I expect this;

2950+ fps

Remy or Win. LA .284

Krieger Barrel: 23", longer barrel not an option.
Need twist rate recommendations to spin 140-162's

Bullet: 162gr Amax

all recommendations load data thoughts welcome.

it will be close with rl17 mine went 3030fps with 26" but it was fairly hot load with 162's

for sure get a 9 twist.

You'll see it with the 140's but probably end up about 75fps short for the 162's with a 23" tube. Not like a 162 Amax @ 2850-2875 is anything to sneeze at. As long as you're not expecting to run it like a 7 WSM you should be very happy with it.

A 9 twist is a must.

In the process of a .284 build myself of course Im going long barrel to push the berger 180's to 2900.

1:9 28" Bartlein
Long Action repeater so I dont have to worry about seating depths when using mags.

you should get the 162's close but the barrel length is going to handicap you a 30" gets it easy but you migh be closer to 2900fps but whatever it is it will be OK dont worry to much about the velocity as 50spf here or there is not going to sink the ship.

As stated use a 9 twist.

I am struggling between SA and LA only because Seekin's WSM magazines will allow you to load 3.13 which seem like should be enough to run 150's and 162's

I will go LA if I have to, not trying to re-invent the wheel, I'm just a bigger fan of SAs

if your going to go short action just run the 7mm-08 or 7mm-08ai then you can run aics or better aw mags get similar ballistics to the 284 pushing 150 or lighter.
