My brain is about explode from all the conflicting info or lack of info from searching Google!
I have a long action Remington 700 7mm rem. mag. I'm going to be re-barrelling the rifle and I'm torn on what round to choose. I know I want something in a 7mm or .30 caliber, capable of 1 mile hits, and fed through a Badger Ordnance M5 DBM.
I have been looking at 300 win mag but I'm not finding consistent info on 210-220gr loads. Can that long of a bullet be mag fed? What kind of velocity could you expect from a 26inch plus barrel?
I've also been looking at the 7mm chambers. The 175-180gr bullets have great b.c. and should allow more room for being mag. fed?
I would like to hear some thoughts from people who know more than myself. I would also like to stay with something readily available but not ruling out something like a SAUM load. I do plan to reload.

Why not stick with the 7RM? Ballistically superior to the 30 cal except in energy on target, with less recoil, but will still kill anything in North America. Feeds better than the short action mags, and capable of better velocity than short mags if you chamber a little long and get the 180s out of the case. 180hybrids have one of the best form factors of any bullet made. One of the top three most popular rounds in the US so in a pinch or for hunting you can buy off the shelf ammo from Walmart if you wanted. There is a lot to like in a 7 mag.

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with a 7 saum, 7 wsm, 7 rm, or 300wm. All of them will launch high bc bullets fast enough to get well beyond 1000 yards.

I am pushing 180 Bergers at 3105 from my 25" 7mm Rem Mag Match, but with the rumor mill suggesting that the 195 bergers will be released AFTER the 170gr 270 bullets...I have been eyeballing something like a 27 Nosler or even 27 Dakota

I am seriously considering keeping the 7mm RM but I just wanted to hear some opinions on others. I already have the brass, it's just the availability of the 7mm match grade bullets that has me concerned.
Anyone know the internal length of a ACIS Mag. Magazine? Wanting to know if I will run into fed issues with 180gr 7mm RM?

Well, if you are talking about hitting at a mile, you will not be picking up any ammo at Wal-Mart, so I wouldn't think along those lines. It does mean the components should be easy to find though. Your bolt is a mag boldface, so that rules out 280 AI, but that is my choice and I'm building one on a standard boltface la now. I have alwayr been intrigued with the 7-300 win mag or maybe 7 rogue. Both based off the win mag case and should fling the 7mm pills pretty dang quick. Might be nice to have the extra little umph if the 195s ever make it out.

How would barrel life be on a 7-300 win mag? I know 7mm in any mag. casings is not the greatest to begin with. But it would definitely keep the velocity up there with heavy bullets for 1000+ yard shots.

Yeah good bullets are a problem for just about everything out there, out of stock is the sign of the times. Internal length on the AICS 300wm mag is 3.6ish, a 180 berger loaded such that you have the top of the boat tail at the base of the neck will be around 3.55 or so, so you can definitely mag feed with the 180s out where they are supposed to be. Don't know about the 195s, you will prolly need a new barrel by the time they are released anyway lol.
