Hello all, this is my first post in this forum. I am looking to upgrade the optic on my rifle I have a Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .270 Winchester. The scopes I am looking at are Leupold VX-3i LRP 6.5x20x50mm or Sig Sauer Tango 4 6x24x50mm. Max distance for hunting is 600yds and I would like to get into some long range shooting as well (out to 1000yds). I hunt on farm property in PA so weight is not a big issue for me. I like the price point of both scopes and that's pretty much my limit for now. Any thoughts, opinions and feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For the $ you’re talking, I would absolutely take the Bushnell LRTSi over the ones you mentioned. Cameraland was having a phone call sale on these a few days ago, which put them at stupid low prices. Not sure if they’re still doing it but would certainly be worth the phone call to find out. Ask for Doug.

I would also look at the LRTS or LRTSI that Doug is offering over either of those choices. The LRTS is a proven dialer over both the Leupold and Sig Sauer. If you want illuminated, then the reticle will have a slightly thicker crosshair which I believe is .6mils. The non-illuminated model drops the crosshairs down to I believe .3mils which will be better for long range precision shooting. I just picked up one of the non-illuminated models myself but up to you to decide if you want illumination.

Thanks guys! I was only considering a the TANGO4 because my first scope was a Whiskey3 4x12. I bought it in September and took my first deer on opening weekend in December. It was only a 100yd shot but the deer dropped right where I hit it. Do you have any other recommendations for a scope in the $1000-$1200 range? I would like to compare the Bushnell LRTSi to other scopes. Thanks again for the input!

Out of those two options, the Leupold is certainly the superior scope but in that price range you brought up I would also look at Swarovski Z3 or Z4 and the Zeiss V4. Those are probably going to be the best hunting glass in that price range.

The new Vortex LHT came out at $1k that would also be something to look at. No experience with it, but initial reviews are pretty good on it other than maybe a little bleeding on the illumination. It is 2nd focal plane though and the two scopes you mentioned at the beginning are ffp.
