Hey guys I am finally ready to get an FFP mil mil scope been doing alot of research and just about have the money saved up to get the new IOR 3.5-18x50. I have read many good things about it. It has taken over a year to save up the cash for this thing but I think it will be worth it. Now I have came across the new weaver 3-15 tacticle scope and have read many good things about this scope as well. My question is wether or not anyone knows how the glass compares on the 2. I know the IOR will be better but is it really $1,000 better. The main thing is I need this scope to perform well in low light conditions for coyote and other varmint hunting. The IOR is probably better all around but how much is the qustion I guess. Sorry for the newby qustion but the best scope I have owned so far was a Millet tactical and I was not very impressed with it but it did get the job done. I have never really looked through a high end scope either, just a Night Force at the local gunshop and that is the only high end glass offered in my area that I can find.
Thanks for any and all help

Re: Need help ior or weaver

The Weavers are really nice for the pride the IOR are to me a lot nicer. You have to decide if the extra in price is with it. I have been thinking about using a Waver on a rifle I just got.

We have them both on sale at this time. If we can be of help feel free to PM, email, or call 916.670.1103.

You have several other options in that price range as well. The PST is close to the weaver. Or a used optic from another member here. I have seen some Vortex Razor HD, Nightforce and SS 5-20 scopes sell for around the price of a new IOR or cheaper. Just throwing that out. Not to knock the IOR's I have heard they have excellent glass clarity and the durability has come a long way. Just letting you know you have many more options than those 2 you listed. Find the optic that suits your needs best and get it.

You need to spend some time looking through them side by side if possible. I know it seems like a LOT more money but the IOR glass is nearly on par with the best from S&B and Premier. I have had them side by side on the range and in the field. The quality of the glass and optical system of the IOR scopes is amazingly good.

Re: Need help ior or weaver

See that's the problem I can't look at them side by side or any other high end tacticle scope around here besides night force so I have to make my decision based off of other peoples opinions. The pst's look good but I have read more then one post on here where people have said the glass seemed nicer on the Weaver Illya from another site also said the same I've heard he's a good judge in that department. The 4-16 was what I was thinking but for only a few hundred more I can get the 3.5-18 which is the mag range I think I would like best.

Re: Need help ior or weaver

I can say I have looked through nice hunting Scopes though. A Zeiss conquest that I thought had nice glass and a swavorski that I also liked the glass on as well as eye relief but the thing I liked most was the eye box design eye placement was very forgiving and there wasn't a black ring around the picture at all I liked those things also. I heard the razed HD is the opposite of that. I don't know how the Weaver performs in regards to eye placement or eye box design, but I have heard the IOR handles these things well. I was told the hensoldt does all these things very well but out of my range. But if the IOR is considerably better then Weaver or if someone knows of another scope that does those things well with glass similar to a conquest I will consider it.
