I'm ready to move on up in the scope world. I've saved up all my pennies and have a budget of $2500.00. I've been doing lots of research and have a few scopes in mind but the problem is there are zero places that carry any higher end optics in my neck of the woods. I'm planning on ordering my scope through a Hide vendor but I'd really like to handle a few different brands before I drop the cash. The last thing I want is to make a blind purchase and then wish I had gone with a different brand. I'm headed to Vegas to celebrate my wife's new college degree next week, are there any stores that carry a large selection of big name optics brands that I can check out/fondle? We'll be renting a car so traveling around is not an issue. Thanks in advance for any info!

I'd would check out the Steiner and Kahles scopes but they might push you over budget if you are dead set at $2500. Also the Bushnell Tactical scopes are GTG and with $2500 you could afford to get a heck of a mount.

I just bought a Nightforce 8-32 Benchrest with the NP-1RR reticle at eurooptic for 999.99 I don't think the target guys liked those reticles but I am putting it a tacticle rifle that might be shot in competitions where you need to range with the reticle. The glass in the Benchrest models is realy good.

I haven't been to a store with what I would call hign end scopes here in Vegas. There is Bass Pro at the Sivlerton Lodge down south (I-15 and Blue Diamond Rd.) and Sportsman's Warehouse in the NW valley (HWY-95 and Ann Rd.). Don't get me wrong, they have really good selections, but the scopes tend to be hunting scopes, tactical Leupolds, and some Nightforce. Steiner, U.S. Optics, March, S&B, are hard to come by, just not a real big market for them here in Sin City.

The only places in vegas I've seen with a semi decent selection is the gun store on trop if you want a vortex scope or american shooter on spring mountain which had a larger selection including Schmidt and bender, vortex and a few others. Personally as a vegas resident I buy online when it comes to scopes

Thanks for the recommendations! I had sat down and listed what I wanted out of a scope and was initially set on the Nightforce C434, but ended up second guessing myself. I had looked into Bushnell, Steiner, USO, and S&B (I have some things I could sell to raise more cash) and read as many reviews/info as I could find over the past month but I'd really like to look through/play with them before I made a decision. I'll check out the stores that you guys listed, hopefully I can get a few different manufacturers in my hands. Thanks again for the help!

I lived in Vegas during the winter of '73-'74, and found several gun shops with very interesting selections of guns....but I think maybe, just maybe, Vegas has changed a little since then. Have been out there several times for SHOT since 2005, but have not ventured out & about in search of gun shops, so I'll defer to the comments made by the two previous posters with more recent experience there.

However, my recent experience with a Kahles K624i AMR has been excellent, and I'd highly recommend that you at least get a hands-on look at one before making a decision. You might need to save a little longer in order to swing the purchase, but I'm confident you'd not be experiencing 'buyer remorse' after getting it mounted & shooting behind it.

Try to visit a tactical match near your area and after the match ask if you can take a look through their scopes. Most will oblige.

There's tac match in the LV area. Maybe the timing is right??? http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...81-june-2014-vegas-precision-rifle-match.html

Crap, the match is on the 7th, I fly back to Hawaii on the 1st. There are no tactical matches here, heck I've only run into one local fellow shooter (and a Hide member to boot!) who shoots long range, I haven't met anyone besides him running upper tier optics. Hopefully I'll luck out and find some decent optics while in Vegas. Thanks again everyone for the help!

New Frontier Armory carries Vortex and NF, not a large selection of either.

Bass Pro doesn't really have anything I could consider high end except maybe for a Swaro.

Sportsman's Warehouse is probably going to be your best bet. I do have a few USO's you are welcome to check out if we can work things out while your here.
