Gunsmithing Need help understanding barrel contours, please.

Can someone point me to a good detailed review of barrel contours?

each manufacturer should have a page describing their contours and approximate weight for each blank. Suggest you start there...

When I went to gunsmithing school they gave us copies of Douglas' contours. But every manufacture should have a contour page on their website I think.

Thanks I'm not looking for specs. I'm looking to understand contour fundamentals, engineering and applications.

I never went that far into contours. I always thought of them as looks vs. weight. However....I never liked English style with a sharp corner. I prefer the American classic smooth bottle neck style.

It's not rocket science. Thicker barrels don't flex as much but weigh more, and most contours are a tradeoff between these two factors given a specific application.
